So, I finally get to post one of these. I've been following the blog, and have made quite a few cards using the sketches, but have need the cards before I find the time to photograph and upload!

Wow, it's been too long. A lot has happen since I last posted, we moved out of our house and in with the in-laws, we are now in the final stages of purchasing some property, and hopefully by the end of Sept/first of Oct, we'll be able to start building!

We had a wonderful Easter at our house! Saturday we took the children to the local annual egg hunt. Because of the snow it was held inside the elementary school gym. The floor was FULL of eggs and they just blew a whistle and let the kids go at it!! I didn't get to see too much as I was in the 5 and under section trying to encourage my shy little girl to get in there and pick some up, but Daren (DH) said the older kids looked like a bunch of chickens pecking at the ground!!!

Easter Sunday the kids decided to dress up because it was a special day. I had a memory of my Dad getting my sister and I to dress up and pose for pictures in the garden, as soon as it was warm enough! So ...... I made my little munchkins pose for a couple of shots, but they're good sports about it, although it's hard to get Berg to settle for any "serious" shots.

Here are a few of the shots that I took on Sunday. I can hardly believe how big they're getting. I went in to wake up Berg this morning and realized how much of his bed he takes up. I remember when he was this tiny little thing, in what seemed to be a huge bed (and it's only a single)!!!
In this shot Berg was trying force Abbey to stare into his eyes! After I took it I realized that it looks like he's going in for a kiss!!!
Here is a card I made. We went to my in-laws for easter dinner, and my MIL ( Debbie) was kind enough to invite my parents and G-MA for dinner as well. Now my Grandma is 87, and has lived on her own for over 25 yrs. She would do anything she could to help any one of us BUT she's VERY stubborn and set in her ways. She can also be very mean and spiteful when she wants to be. We realize that this is probably due to being lonely and her inability to get out much and try as best we can to understand, but its hard when you become the target of her bitterness. She has mellowed some since her Great Grandchildren have been born, as I think she has started to realize that she tends to push people away, and she doesn't get to see the children as much. Anyway, she was telling me last weekend how she still has my letters from when I lived in Alberta and Ontario, and she likes to get them out and re-read them every once and a while. This kinda made me feel sad for her. Then when I got home and was reading on a message board about a lady (who lives alone) who fell and had some trouble getting up or to the phone, which got me thinking of Nanny again, so I thought I'd try and start sending her a card every week, to try and boost her spirits. At least she'll know someone's thinking of her even if we can't get out to visit that often. This will be the first card I send to her. I hope she likes it!!!

Well Debbie, I'm finally getting there!

My dear MIL has been getting after me to update my blog, so I'm finally getting around to it. Here's a little card I made using one of my new stamps! Can you believe I found this cute little guy at the discount store for $ 2.99? I thought that was a deal too good to pass up! I colored him using Debbie's water color pencils and gamsol. I think he turned out kinda cute!

My First ATC !!!!!

WARNING: This post contains my ATC card for the swap at Cococat's Cardmaking, so if you're in the swap and don't want to see it before you receive it....Look no Further!!!!

I'm so excited, I signed up for my first ATC swap on Cococat's Cardmaking Message Board. I had never made one before, but admired many, and finally took the plunge to try one. The swap includes 12 people and each person is to do a card for a month of the year. I picked October because Alicia from PCA had sent me a Fall stamp set as an RAK, and I thought it would be perfect for this. For a first attempt, I'm quite happy with how they turned out.

This picture really isn't very good, night time again, but I first stamped my images, them sponged inks in shades of browns, green and a touch of red. then I randomly clear embossed smaller leaves over the card.

I just hope the recipiants like them!

OK .....So ...... I accidently deleted this first card when trying to do the links in the last paragraph and ........ of course I can't control where it goes once I upload after I've already written my thing ..... and I'm really tired and want to go to bed even thought it's only 10 o'clock........ so the info and history behind this first card are found near the end of this post, and the first card and beginning of this entire post is actually following this card....... clear as mud right?

....that is what I had some time to do this past weekend, and boy did it feel good. I was at my DMIL's and as always she was kind enough to share her supplies with me! I had a lot of fun playing with some of her stamp sets. I didn't note who's sets they were though. This first card had a lot of flourishes,which, if you visit often, you know I love, and what appeared to me to be flower petals (not sure that that's what they're meant to be) but this is what I came up with. This next card is, of course, a criss cross card. I've been wanting to make one for a while and just had to add some scallops (another favorite of mine) down the edges. Used BG, naturally, on this one. Also added a pearl brad to finish off the strip across the card, love this, thanks for sharing Deb!!!
And for winning a post challenge on the PCA message board, this last card (now the first card....LOL ) I received as part of an RAK from my friend Lee. With a fantastic layout, BG PP's, and Lumier paint on the chipboard monogram (which adds such a great shimmer) how could this card be anything but gorgeous????? Along with the card she sent me a pkg of stampendous clear sentiment stamps. Thanks so much Lee, you are a very generous lady!!!

I just want to add that although I've been crazy busy lately, I still have been checking out everyone's blogs regularly, just not commenting. Everyone's work is just such an inspiration, keep up the good work everyone!

....two posts this month, imagine that! These are a couple of cards I did for challenges on the PCA message board.

This first one is for the Lift, Lift, Lift challenge. One of the ladies saw this layout on a blog (I have know idea which one) and linked it for everyone to see, I loved it and wanted to try it so here is my version.
This card is for the January sketch challenge. Used my Skipping Stones, Wonder Years, set for this one.

Other then that, nothing new here except more snow, snow, snow. Two days ago it was so warm all the snow had melted and now, in less then 24 hrs., we've gotten 15 to 20 cm and there's more on the way! Oh well, we got a family ski pass and lessons for the kiddies for x-mas, at least I know we'll get to use it!!!

Happy New Year to all you fellow Bloggers out there! I've been missing you, but life is busy now with working full time again.

We had a wonderful Christmas at our house this year. Both sets of parents and my Grandmother joined us for Christmas dinner. The best part was, because we had thought we had sold the house back in September, I had gotten a lot of packing done....... then when I went to get out those rarely used items......such as wine glasses, and the turkey platter, they were all packed and in Debbie's basement!!!! Sooooo, we drink wine from beer glasses and the turkey was served on a cookie sheet covered in tin foil......classy!!!! But we were all Happy, together, and in good health so what else matters!!!!!

Sorry for the poor picture quality here, but this is the best I can do at night, and it was not an easy subject to get a picture of anyway. This is a card I've done for a swap. I started it in Sept/Oct but never got around to finishing it. I wanted to do something different for the recipiant and thought this would be perfect so I dug it out tonight and finished it!

It's inspired by the circle cards, but the base is a clear CD/DVD (DH gets them in the large pkgs. he buys, they are protectors for the CD's in the bottom of the pkg). I stamped the CD in Permanent ink, then made the center "mini card" with punched scallops (they are joined by an eyelet on the side by the bow, and the top of the "card" rotates to open it. I also adhered another scallop on the back side of the CD to hide the hole and the edges of my stamping. Then just embellished and stamped the sentiment I wanted. I hope the recipiant likes it!!!!

Well Hello,

I had no idea it had been that long since I had posted to my blog, but with working now, and the holiday season just around the corner, time seems to be slipping away. The new job is going well, I think, still new to me and hopefully I'll feel more comfortable soon. It doesn't help that I've been out of work for over a year, and am moving into a completely new field either.

I thought I'd share a card I did for a card call, using the Skipping Stones Design, In stitches set.

Things seem to be picking up around our house!!!! Since the last time I've posted I've accepted a new position, which I'm very excited about!!! It only took me 14 mts. but better late then never right?

Also, I actually managed to start my Christmas shopping. This is the first year I've run into this, but each of my children have something on their list for Santa, which happens to be an extremely popular item this year.....not a fun experience!!! I did manage to find what my son wants (had I waited another week or two I probably wouldn't have), but I'm having a very difficult time finding the BOY doll that my daughter wants. The doll comes in both a boy and a girl model, but apparently all 4 yr. olds must want the boy model this year. I can find tons of the little girl dolls, but none of the little boy??? What's a MaMa to do?

As you can tell from my blog lately I'm in full Christmas mode here, we even had our first snow fall last night. The kids were outside at 8:15 this morning building snowmen!! Sadly, I was NOT going to go out and join them, so they had to go it alone!!!! They had a blast though.

Here are a couple more Christmas cards to share with you. I bought a K & Co. matt pack of 4x6 Christmas papers yesterday, I think K & Co. is one of my favorite PP lines, just behind BG!!! The second card is still a little iffy for me, and even though I did make 3 of them, I still can't decide if I like them. I'll just wait and see if they sell or not! I also included a picture of some of the tags I've been working on! Tags are not an easy thing for me to make at all, but thought it would be a good idea for using up my scraps, as I hate to throw any of them away!! Though I still need to find the right ribbon to finish them off! Sentiment stamps are from Skipping Stone Designs!

1. If you could have $100.00 worth of scrapbook paper or assorted embellishments, which would you choose?

Tough choice, but I'd have to go with PP's. A lot of my embellishments come from the $ store, and my local one has a great selection which is updated with new items regularly. So I'd definately use the money to invest in some beautiful, expensive, co-ordinating PP lines!

2. If you had to choose between only using stamps or rubons, which would you choose?

Although I love the look of rub-ons, some of the designs are wonderful. I would have to stick to stamps if forced to choose.

3. If you knew how to do awesome cards and layouts and could only do one for a whole year....which would you do?

Cards, without a doubt!

4. Would you rather own a scrapbooking store or have your own scrapping room at home....(can't have both..he,he,he.)

I think I would stick with my own cozy little room I have now! It also serves as our computer room, but everything in my corner is set up to suit me, and I can just go in and "escape" after the kids go to bed!

5. And last but not least, what is your CURRENT cardmaking or scrapping style....

I don't think I really have a style! I like to try new things and just play. I tend to stick to clean lines and love soft inking in light tans and darker browns, for a vintage feel, but not always!

More Christmas cards....

Well, I seem to be having some problems posting today So this will be short and sweet! Here are a few more of the Christmas cards I've been working on. This first one is a Paula Bloom inspired layout!

I just love the way these next ones turned out. I've seen lots of cards in similar layouts to this, and it's not what I intended when I stared (ended up adding the CS to stamp the sentiment on), but I just love the way everything has come together on this one.
This one was done using one of Carla's sketches. I didn't hve time to do it during her challenge, but I find sketches a wonderful source of inspiration at anytime!

Just wanted to say thanks for all your kind words and well wishes, but the sale of the house did not go through, so we're back to square one!

Everything in the inspector's report was minor, with the exception one thing that we knew was a possibility and expected them to haggle over. I must say I feel better then I have in over a week and I'm actually kind-of relieved. As much as I do want to sell the house and move, this one just did not feel right to me from the get go......sounds weird, I know, but just something was lacking there. Hopefully the right people are just around the corner. The only really bad thing is we already started the migration process on the house and property (new law stating that all property sellers are responsible to have the land title searched and recorded on the new computerized registry system) so now we're stuck with a lawyer bill that we really don't need right now! Oh well guess it's better to be done regardless!

I'm not at home this weekend, but I did get a bunch of Christmas cards made on Thursday, with my new PP's I'll try to post a couple on Monday!

I'm Still Around!

I finally got around to doing a post! I have just been so stressed here lately that I haven't felt like doing anything, especially crafting!

We have sold our house, pending the inspection tomorrow, and I am just so sick! I'm a worry wart by nature, and know that there is nothing wrong with the house, but until that sold sign goes up I just can't relax! Yesterday I just had to take a day and get out, so DD and I went to lunch and then to my local scrap store where I picked up a few treats! I got some Basic Grey, Fruit Cake and Figgy Pudding, and two new stamps. I broke out my Simply Sentiments cookie cutter card layouts and made a couple of simple cards. I so loved this PP but the cards looked so plain to me, then I found some of these little "sparkle dots", and think it added just the right finishing touch!

Party Time!

Last weekend was DD's 4th Birthday, but seeing as how it was Thanksgiving and everyone was busy, we decided to wait and have her party this weekend! This worked out very well, considering how sick she was last weekend! Anyhoo, while out shopping for party supplies I was about to grab a pkg. of treat baggies and thought, why??? I have a ton of paper bags and scraps at home that will work just nicely. So here is what I came up with for her treat bags. I think the girl ones came out quite cute, but I'm lacking in boy embellishments and had to make due with what I had.

Just a quick post to say Happy Thanksgiving to all the Canadian bloggers out there!

Today, my Mom and Dad, and my FIL will be joining us for dinner and I will be making ham and scallop potatoes (Debbie, my MIL is still in Shelburne with her sister, who's boyfriend is not doing well health wise). Tomorrow we will go to my Mom and Dad's for Turkey...yeah!

Yesterday was Abbey's 4th b-day and she was so sick! Head cold, but it hit her hard, she kept crying and and saying, "Mom, I just need to cry, it makes me feel better!" Poor thing! But she's doing much better today thankfully we had planned her party for next weekend so that worked our well!

Here are a few Christmas cards I made using Carla's new sketch. If I haven't said so before (LOL!!!), her sketches are awesome and you should go check it out, great little RAK possibility too! The sentiment is Skipping Stones, the snowman I'm not sure about, as they're images I stamped off from my MIL last year and never got around to using!

The blue ones are just a couple I put together on my own, using my stamps from Skipping Stone Designs.

I'm babysitting today, that means Abbey is occupied for the day, and since I cleaned the house from top to bottom for a showing last night...I almost have a free day! I don't realize how much time passes between posting and blog "surfing" until I go to visit and post comments and everyone else has posted 2-3 cards!. Here is one I decided to enter for the CPS contest. I decided to go with the Christmas in July theme, as I've really been into the Christmas mode lately, and it's just what is appealing to me right now! The photo of this one is not that great, but I can't be sure I'll have time to write a post tomorrow, so it's either now, or who knows when.

All the entries for this contest are simply amazing. I'm so in awe of all the talent out there, and it is so great to see the variety of cards made from one sketch!

going on around here these days! I've been working on a couple of things, but they aren't coming together like I'd like. I've really got my mind stuck on Christmas lately, so I thought I'd share a couple of christmas cards I did for the Papercrafts call earlier in the year. Needless to say, they didn't get picked up! Oh well, I still like them.

Both of these were Sketchs from Papercrafts, but for the one with the tree, I made the sketch the card. The ribbon unties, the flap lifts up, and the sentiment (or note) goes under the big red circle!

Stickers are something I hardly ever use on a card, simply because I don't really know how to use them. I know that may sound funny to some of you, but I find them really difficult to work with. Well the challenge at Caardvarks really made me sort though my stash, see what I had, and figure out what to do with them. quick post this morning....Abbey's back to preschool now, so while she's gone I have to buckle down and find a job.....at this point, any job, as time's wasting away........!

Found this sweet pkg. of rub-ons at the local durg store. I just loved them and the were only $1.29 can't beat that! Used my Studio G, stamps, and my favorite white satin ribbon!
This is just a card I made to use up some PP, CS, and Lace scraps I had kickin' around. The metal embellishment came from dollarama! Pkg. of 12 for a $1 and they had all kinds of different styles.
Made this card using Carla's new sketch and some Daisy D's PP's. Carla was having some trouble with her old blog and now has new blog set up and you can get to her by clicking here.

Ramblings

Hi all!

Well I babysat yesterday, so I managed quite a bit in the scrapping dept. I find it amazing how one new kid in the house can occupy the others for an entire day! Anyway, I set out to make Alicia's sheetload of cards yesterday, but that didn't happen. I have a very diffucult time doing masculine cards, a few months ago I won a Cosmo cricket prize pkg. from Scraplovers and some of the PP's in the pkg. were, what I thought, wonderful masculine PP's. When I saw Alicia's great sheetload for this month, I though, great, I'll use up these PP's and have a bit of a stash of masculine cards. I went and cut out all the pieces, but when I went to put them together, it just wasn't working for me.....nothing to do with the the pattern, everyone else's (Lisa's, Lee's, Alicia's) looked fantastic, which is why I wanted to give this a try, but I just gcouldn't get it together? Must have been the PP's, I don't know? Anyhow, here I had all these little pieces....what am I to do with them? Well, I played around and came up with something that worked for me (still have a lot of pieces to put more together) and using the die cut pieces that came with the PP's, here is what I have started putting together. What do ya think? There are a couple that I would consider more feminine, but that's good to! Thanks for the inspiration Alicia, I'll have to try again with some different PP's and see if I can get some cards made using your pattern!

In other news Berg's now back in school! Second year in school and we have yet to actually catch the bus on the first day! LOL. Last year, no one could tell me what time the bus would be coming by the house? We waited 1/2 an hour assumed we'd missed it, and I drove him. We hadn't waited long enough. This year the school changed it's hours. We were told to be at the bus stop 1/2 and hour earlier, we opted for 40 mins. early (to be on the safe side) we still missed it! Anyway, we didn't miss it by much because it came at 7:50 this morning, which is about the time we were going out the back door yesterday morning! We're on track now!

Just had DD to the Doctor this morning, She's had this terrible croupy cough now for about a month (Had to wait 2 wks to get into the doctor, as back to school time is busy with all the vacinations etc...) Medicine and her cool humidifier help, but it just wasn't going away. Her chest is so congested and full, she's now on antibiotics and a steroid inhailer, if it's still congested next week when we go back she's going to have to have chest x-rays to make sure that it's nothing more serious!

Well thanks for listen to all my ramblings! sometimes a gal just needs to chat!

post for you this morning. Had a busy weekend AGAIN! We managed to get up to the camp for two nights, just the four of us and had a great relaxing and quiet weekend!

We now off for one last playdate, before school starts tomorrow, then grocery shopping, and some last minute back to school shopping! It's gonna be a long one.

Yesterday I posted a card I had made using one of Di Hickman's sketches. This was the first time I had used one of her sketches for a card. Then as I was browsing some other blogs and I saw someone else who had posted a card based on Di's sketch, but the layout was completely different from mine? I went back to Di's blog to discover that it was my lucky day, as Wednesday is the day she posts her new sketches, so I had something to work on last night! Yeah!

I love this sketch so much I did two cards, and definately plan on using it again. Thanks to Di for the inspiration!

I do realize that these cards look awfully plain without a sentiment on them, but I prefer to leave them blank for the time being, until I know what/or whom they'll be used for.

The Wedding.....

was a huge success! We ended up having beautiful weather for a sunset ceremony on the beach! Here are a few pictures for you! Enjoy! I hope to get a chance to do some scrappin' soon!

Here is the beautiful bride and our Dad walking down the tiki-torch lined "aisle". This is part of the ceremony. They had a sand ceremony, kind of like with the candles in the church, but here each person has their own vase of colored sand that they layered in a clear vase. Each layer has a special meaning and then the last layer is Becky and Darrell's different colored sands poured together to represent their union. It makes such a lovely keepsake!
This is the entire Bridal party with the parents. They each had only one witness, myself and Darrel's best friend. simple and fairly casual!

Seem to have found some play time, here and there!

The one on the top is made from my scraps from the card below. It is definately Bety inspired, in the use of the flowers, buttons, and twine.

The black card is just some playing around with some more scraps. I inked that chipboard flower but my red ink just doesn't "match" the other reds in the cards! Oh well you win some and lose some, right?

Alicia, to answer your question from my last post my corner rounder is from EK Success, Don't know if that's a brand name or not? I bought it at Walmart, and it doesn't cut through folded cardstock...... easily!

Well, I've had absolutely NO time to play! We did put the house on the market, the sign went up yesterday, so since last Thursday we have pretty much done nothing but redo the two rooms that still had not been redone since we moved in, 5 yrs ago! Thankfully my MIL Debbie has been with us every step of the way helping out, if not, I'm not sure things woud have ever been finished, so.......... BIG "Thank You" to Debbie!

and.... my sister's wedding is this coming Sat. I've been busy finishing up the party favors that will be given away, and I still have a speach to write.....??????? Hopefully I'll find some time to create , as there are a couple of cards that I've seen and wanted to try!

Another Sketch!

Here is another card for Carla's latest Sketch challenge, as soon as I saw it I new I wanted to try it. Again, I did change the sketch a tiny bit!

The other card is the one I made at Debbie's and thought I had taken a picture of, with the others, but hadn't. I was flipping through Debbie's newest CARDS issue, LOVE that Magazine, and I thought I saw a button hanging on some ribbon and thought well isn't that neat, but when I looked again I realized it was just the way the end of the bow was hanging down over the button. Well I thought I'd try hanging some buttons just to see what it would look like, and I kinda like it!

I've been saving my cards to put sentiments on for when I need them, so this is why they look so blank!

I must run, we've decided to try and sell our house, the agent is coming tonight to look at it, and with 2 kiddies it's so difficult to keep claen and uncluttered! Need to tidy up a bit!

WoW! What a busy....

couple of days we've had. Friday I took the kids on our annual trek to the waterfalls in Victoria Park. It's so beautiful there, and it's one of the kids favorite places to go. The park is located in a long deep gorge, and at the end is a very high 2 level water fall. There are lots of shaded walking paths, and a great play ground complete with a series of water sprinklers! We always take a picnic, walk to the falls and back, and then head to the play ground to end off the trip! Great fun! Here are the Berg and Abbey sitting on a rock in front of the upper Falls! Saturday, we headed out to my sisters, for my nieces 2nd birthday. Here is Mya, the birthday girl, licking her lips after swiping a hand full of icing from her Dora cake!
Sunday was the annual family picnic for Daren's work. They have a ring toss tournament for the adults, a bouncy tent, face painting, balloon animals and lots of games, prizes, and candy for the kids! Bergen and Abbey both got their faces painted....Bergen actually sat for over an hour to get this spiderman look, not sure if you can see Abbey's heart in this picture!
Saturday and Sunday night we actually spend at the in-laws house and I got time to make a few cards while I was there! This first one is another one of Carla's sketches. It's not exactly the same, but I kind of adapted it and it incorporates many of the elements from her sketch.
This one I made just playing aroundlast night using up some of Debbie's scraps! I love going through her scrap box. I think I could scrap off just her scraps! I did make one other card, but the picture seems to have disappeared? I will save that for a post tomorrow!
Well I hope you all had as wonderful a weekend as we did!

Abbey had requested that we mop the floor this afternoon? I didn't think it was that bad! But I'm game if she is so I must sign off now!

Here's a little card I made last night. My MIL, Debbie, shared some of her chipboard flourishes with me a while ago, (Thank you Debbie) but I had not used one yet, so I figured it was time to break one out! Colored my chipboard with ink, use my new BG Infuse paper pack, and added some twine to "Cross my Heart"! LOL!! Not sure about the sentiment, I'm thinking I should have made the card shaped like a bra!!!!

Carla's Sketch Challenge!

I always love do Carla's sketch challenges, as they're very unique and I do find them very challenging! I spent most of last night and this morning working on it! Here is what I came up with for her latest one. There are 2 pics. , as one shows the colors in the card much better then the other, but you can't see the image stamped in white. It reads "Sealed with a Kiss" hence, the "x" and "o" in the flowers!

Wonderful Weekend!

Well, we had a wonderful wekend up at the camp. We headed up at 4 pm Friday afternoon, and came down around 1 pm yesterday. The kids had loads of fun playing in the lake, and with the rocks and sand. I don't think Abbey had a dry outfit left by the time we left! They collected about 6 tiny little toads, and one rather large one. We roasted hot dogs and marshmellows around the campfire at night! Berg and Tyrell found a good sized stick to use for batting practice, and JR made them a bow with a stick and some wire! Abbey and Jalisa mostly stuck to Barbies and playing chief!

The job interview went well, I think, but it sounds as though they're interviewing alot of people, asking everyone to keep their fingers crossed for me, as I really need this job! I'll hear, good or bad, sometime next week!

Hopefully, I'll get some time to create something later today or this evening. Missing it! I've quickly browsed everyone's blogs and all the new posts look so great! I just haven't found the time to sit down and comment yet!

Hi All,

I just got home this morning, as my car broke down AGAIN, while we were away (seriously it's NOT a clunker either, just a streak of bad luck I guess!) checked my blog... and found 14 comments on my last post! Wow, I think that's the most I've ever had!

Anyway, the good news from all this is I had a phone message waiting for me, about a job interview....FINALLY! So I go for that tomorrow afternoon, so wish me luck on that!

We're headed to the camp for the weekend...yeah ....can't wait! It's so rustic, no power (generator at night), no running water.....20 mins. by boat just to get there......so peaceful and quiet! The kids LOVE it!

I do have the itch to get creative, but's it's going to have to wait for now!

Thought I'd share this with you today.

Last Christmas, when I was just getting started in scrapping, my Dad was sitting and watching me put together a paper bag album, he was shaking his head, laughing, and saying " I just don't get it" ......this from a man who collects stamps and could spend hours examining and sorting them!!! LOL.

Anyway, I decided I had to put together something something special just for him. I asked Mom to locate the envelope he kept with his father's photo and ID tags from WWII. I managed to put together, and frame, the following layout for him:

Well he like it very much, and actually asked me I I could take it apart to add in Grampy's medals, that he had hidden away somewhere else. I finally got around to finishing it up last night, and below is the end result.

I had to attach it to cardboard, as those metals are just too heavy for cardstock. He will now build a shadow box for it. The envelope in the pocket is from an actual letter Grampy sent while he was overseas the post mark and stamp are in perfect condition, oh yeah...Dad also collects postmarks????

I hope everyone had a great weekend, we had lots of fun! We did get our new computer, but haven't got it on the internet yet, or any of our files transferred. I can't wait though! I had to log into blogger 5 times just to get this posted! Ughhhhhhhhh!

Swap Card!

First let me apologize for the crappy picture. Normally I would wait until the morning, but tomorrow, much to my dismay, DH is taking our computer away for a couple of days :( We're getting a new one...Yeah! but all the stuff from our old hard drive has to be transferred to the new one, so I'll probably not be on line again until next week!

Anyway, this card is for the August one- on- one swap on the SS web site. This months "theme" was to try and use a complete set of the studio "g" stamps, from Michaels. I choseone of the baby sets, and here's what I did with it! Hope the receiver likes it!

For those of you interested...we did make it to the beach yesterday, and had a wonderful time! The water was actually quite warm, the sun was hot, and the waves were high! There were actually surfers out, and really catching the waves, it was quite fun to watch. Needless to say Berg now wants a surf board and wet suit......yet he won't let go of the side of the pool if you put him in swimming lessons? Go figure! He did actually take his "mini" board along and would ride the ankle deep waves as they came in, so really I can't complain....he was in the water AND horizontal!

It seems to be a very overcast here this morning, but the kids and I are hoping it will burn off soon, as we're supposed to go to the beach today!

We had another milestone here this weekend ! DD Abbey learnd to pump! This is a huge thing for her as Berg finally mastered pumping a couple of months ago, and now she has too! The smiles now when she gets on that swing are out of this world, it's an amazing thing to get to watch your child accomplish such things, you can almost feel their pride! I love it!

This card started out as playing around with the foam stamps I received in my prize package from Scraplovers. I used a cream card stock and my distressing inks....I am so NOT a colored ink person. The heart is a shared item from my MIL. She received some in an RAK and was kind enough to give me a couple! Thanks Debbie! I just added the color wire to decorate it, and then stamped "HI" on it.

Now this card..... I love how this turned out and I think it's one of my favorites. After making the card above, I had my wire out (which I have not touched since I bought it) and tried to make a flower. Well, after some moving and bending, the shape sort of started to look like butterfly wings, so I went with it! I did some tweeking, added the body (an oval chipboard button) and attached the two together with ribbon. The sentiment, (heat embossed in silver) seemed fitting, except that I have yet to master Alpha stamps, so some of the letters are a bit off, but hey, it adds character, right?

I must sign off now, the kids are getting restless, and if it doesn't clear off we'll atleast get to visit with my sister and neice. I realized that we haven't been to her house since we painted it in February while she was in the hospital! UH! How bad is that?

Friday Night Fun!

I guess I must have been totally "scrapped out" from last weekend, as I didn't even look at, or unpack, my scrapping supplies until last night!

Berg has a birthday party today so I had to come up with a card for a litttle boy, who will be 6. Now, I must admit that I'm no good with " boy" cards and almost bought one while shopping for his gift, but I found myself saying to myself, "NO! you can do this!" So I did! This card is actually one I started a while ago, and ended up not liking, so, I tore it apart and started over and I'm pleased with the end resut!

Now, I'm not sure how most people come up with the cards they make? Myself, I just tend to sit down, pick different things up, and play around until something I like starts to form. Every once in a while though an idea will come to me and I'll try to see if I can make it work. So yesterday, while reading ( yes, I know, I don't understand my mind either!) I had a thought for a card using varying points, kinda like scallops, but with points, and thought I'll have to play with that tonight. Then, the more I thought about it, I thought it might me nice to throw some lacing into the mix. So, I played around with it, and am pleased with how it turned out! The PP is from my K&Co. mat pack and I used red ribon to try and pick up on the tiny red dots in the PP.

Busy, Busy, Busy....

I left home last Thursay, and finally managed to make it back yesterday. I had my sister's stagette Saturday night, which was a blast, and the rest of the week/end was spent scrappin' at my MIL's house. Elaine is visiting from Idaho and Shari was here from New Jersey.

Shari showed us how to make this cute card using up ribbon scraps, it's so cute. She also brought us all boxes to alter with the prettiest Asian pp's. It has a padded top and a set of post card like cards to go inside. I've not yet finished my, will post when I do.

The just for you card, the to have and to hold card, and the one with the scallops and swirls, I made myself, just plalying around. Elaine was kind enough to bring me a 6x6 pack of the Basic Grey Infuse PP's, so I did some playing with those. She also brought the stuff for us to make an acrylic album, I've started mine but not yet finished, I will post when I do.

Thanks ladies for a wonderful time! Elaine it was good to see you again, as always! and Shari it was lovely to meet you, and I'll look forward to seeing you again!

As for the rest of the "regulars" it's always so fun to get together with you ladies!! So glad you decided to spend the extra night!

Out of my comfort zone!

Last night I got an idea to try a card with really big corners, (if you look at the picture of the card I made you'll know what I'm talking about) so..... I sat down picked out my PP's (Fancy Pants - Kewel Line), made my corner, found some ribbon I thought would be nice ....then nothing....... so I gave up an went to bed.

Then as I was laying there reading (becuase I just can't fall asleep unless I read till my eyes shut on their own), I though of this piece of Pink Creative imaginations Paper I had, and how Amy Westerman, on her blog Heartfelt Greetings (one of my favorites I might add) would easily be able to make this work and look fantastic!She does amazing work of combining bold/different prints and colors!

Well, I tried! Here is my end result. I don't exactly dislike it (and maybe I should?) but I'm not exactly "happy" with it either! I think it's definately Lacking somwhere! But then if we don't try we never move on, right? Just thought I'd share!

I entered a contest on the Scraplovers website, and I won 3rd place! Yeah! So I got my prize Pkg. today, for 3rd place I was thinking I'd might get a 6x6 pad of Cosmo Cricket paper, as that's who was sponsoring the contest, but look what I received! So much fun! I can't wait to play, I may even try a layout, if I can manage to get some photos printed!

Oh yeah, the drum stick was not included in the pkg., my son thought I wouldn't notice he'd added that in when I went to get the camera!

So I'm sending a special "Thank you" out there to Scraplovers, as I know a lot of this has come from their store, and to Cosmo Cricket!

Hope you all had a great weekend, I know we did. My FIL and MIL won tickets to the Nova Scotia International Tattoo, Dinner, a hotel stay, and breakfast the next morning....and they kindly give it to DH and I for DH's Birthday. So....that's what we did this weekend. It was so nice! The Tattoo was amazing, although a little long, at just over 3 1/2 hrs. The Tattoo is a Military performance with various Militaries from across the globe participating. There are Bands, marching formations, rifle displays, singing performances (this years included Opera....must say though, not a huge fan of that!) Anyway it was still amazing, and I'm so glad I got the opportunity to see it!
Here's a card I made using Skipping stones design's -In Stitches set, just a simple card to highlight the stamps! Below is a simple little gift tin, to use for a "thank you" gift for a girlfriend. Again I used Skipping Stone's stamps - Well behaved women set. Around the bottom of the tin it reads: I'm only ast strong as my control tops, my hirspray, and my friends.

And finally, Lee, as you predicted, and I expected, Bunny number 2 made it's first appearance on Friday. The're just so cute! So far they haven't done any damage, as I'm not a big gardener, so except for the Cat knocking things over running from window to window as they hop around the yard, their presence is not a big deal for us!

Hello!

Well, we finally made it home! It took us a little longer then expected as our car broke down, so we ended up spending a couple of extra days at the In-laws, but we had fun! The kids got to go on the Legion's float in the July 1st parade with Nana, Grampie marched in front! I even managed to get a couple of cards made while away.

This first one I made for a swap on the Simply Sentiments website. The theme was stars, and this is what I came up with, using my MIL's scraps. The star is sewn onto the scalloped circle.

This next one I made last night just playing around, I know it looks kind of plain, but I'm waiting to recieve my next stamp set from Skipping Stones Designs, as there is a sentiment I think would be perfect for it!

I have one more card that I made while away, but it's just not quite done yet, so I'll probably post that one tomorrow! Have a great day everyone!

Oh yeah, I was tagged! So I must tell 7 unknown things about myself:

1. I'm normally very shy person, but try my best to hide it.
2. I'm a very anxious person and am prone to "mini" anxiety attacks when I'm in situations I find uncomfortable.

Hi!

I managed to find a little play time this morning, and here is a Thank you card I made for Berg's teacher. Tomorrow he goes first thing in the morning to get his report card, and he will have officially completed his first year of school! I can't believe it's gone so fast, it seems just yesterday that I was standing on the side of the road bawling my eyes out!

These are a set of 4 cards I started yesterday, using my scraps, so I hope they'll qualify for Carla's challenge. As you can see they're all the same layout; 2 say birthday wishes (one didn't make the picture), one says thinking of you, and the other says thanks a lot.
I decided to try another sketch card, so this card is based on the Sketch This sketch! All the PP are Csomo Cricket. I used 3 different pieces of co-ordinating double sided papers and I managed to use 5 of the 6 sides available. I rarely ever use the back side of a PP so it was a nice change to incorporate those in! Well, we're off first thing tomorrow morning! So I won't be around this weekend. Have a great weekend!

Because that is what I got today! My best friend Jennifer and I took our kids to the beach today! It was the first beach trip for both of us, this year, and the children had soooooo much fun! They were so covered in sand it was unbelieveable. They were playing in it, making sand angels, and rolling around. They even buried Tyrell, as you can seen in the first picture! At one point I think poor Abbey almost fell asleep laying on the nice warm sand!

Here is Abbey just digging. She and Jalisa had a blast in a big hole they found, which is funny because we found a huge hole last year on one of our trips to the beach. That occupied the kids for at least an hour. At one point Abbey had so much sand on her face, she looked like she'd grown a beard! This is Berg just messing around! You can see the sand all over him, and this is after we'd brushed a bunch off! It's so nice, Jenn and I have been friends since we were 4 yrs. old, and now our kids just love getting together, and have such a blast when they do!
Sorry, as we were gone from 10 am till 8 pm (Berg had baseball practice after the beach trip) I have no card to post today. I'm worn out meself, and off to bed. Thanks for reading about my day! Have a good one yourself and hopefully I'll find some play time now that Berg's done school. He's much more demanding then Abbey, but I'm guessing that's probably a first child thing.

way to much time viewing blogs! I see so many things that I love, and want to try, that's it really just getting out of hand. If I'm not on the computer, all my "free time", is spent at my table! So I'm going to try and limit my time to evenings only! Here is a card I made last night, after viewing a bunch of blogs, each element was inspired by a different blog!

On a more personal note, we hit a major milestone here yesterday....Berg mastered "pumping" on the swing. This may not sound like much, but as a MaMa with two children who love to swing, it gets a bit hard on the shoulders some days. We have been trying to teach him for the past two summers, but if he doesn't get it right away, he gives up and says he doesn't want to do it! Things have been busy around here this week! Had Berg to the doctor about his hands, he's having some sort of major reaction to something and his hands are all blistered, and cracked. Our doctor finally agreed that he should see an allergist (after many, many, nasal and skin problems), so hopefully we'll get an appointment soon. Had Abbey into out patients this morning and she has strep throat and an ear infection. It's only been 2 weeks since her last illness, let's hope this is the end of it!

I managed to get a card made for Carla's next sketch (http://scrappersanonymous.blogspot.com/), but boy this was hard. I don't know why but I just couldn't get one to come together?? Needless to say, I won't be doing two of these!!! This is the best I could come up with.

Another Sketch Card!

Here's another card based on Carla's sketch. Used more of my crate paper scraps, only this one's a little more feminine!

Yesterday was rodeo day at Berg's school, they all had to dress up like cowboys/girls and they were serving beans and weiners in the gym......... I packed a lunch for Bergen anyway! I had to go out to walmart and get him a hat and bandanna, but I definately think it was worth it, who could resist this cowboy?

Sketch Card and Challenge!

I finally got around to doing Carla's sketch! Here's my take on it, and you can find the sketch on her blog http://scrappersanonymous.blogspot.com/ . Had lots of fun with this one, as I used only my scraps! Here's where the challenge part of my title come in.

I have challenged myself to not cut a new pice of paper, until I have reduced my scraps to a manageable amount! Ha, Ha, Ha! What's a manageable amount, you might ask? I don't really know and I've decided I'll determine that once I think I'm there ! :) That works, right!

So we're sitting in this pub in Ottawa, enjoying a nice cold one, when suddenly I see them.....the neatest shaped coasters I have ever seen! I immediatel start planing the cutest little coaster album. Slowly .... I reach across the bar and ever so carefully slip the entire stack into my pocket. Bad, I know, but how could I resist, I mean they're only coasters, right? Two minutes later the bartender notices that the stack is gone...... I hold my breath....... he reaches under the bar and brings out more. Oh how I wanted those one too, but alas my pocket was full!

Here is the album I made using them. It is for my Best Friends daughter who will be turning 5 in July, it will be an "extra" gift for her. Thought she might have fun selecting and cutting out pictures to put in it. I even has a couple of pull out tabs so she can write, or draw a pictures! Hope she likes it.

Used the BG Blush line and All stamps are by Skipping Stones design!

Wedding Bells!!!!

With just over two months before my little sister's wedding, we are starting to hear the tinkle of bells! This past Saturday my sister, Mom, and a close family friend, spent the afternoon putting together her wedding invitations! We had a good time, and it didn't take long at all.

The lighthouse image is a stamp that my MIL (Debbie aka DeeDee - Blog; Papers Galore, link is in my blog list) lent, and showed me how to water color. I managed to fit four on one 81/2 x 11 pice of watercolor paper. They were then scanned and printed onto watercolor paper. The printing is was done on a vellum overlay and the two pieces are attached with the ribbon. Very simply.

Special thanks to Debbie, for the stamp, watercolors, and demo. Also to DFIL and his assistant for the scanning and printing. Your time and effort are most appreciated!

Ok, I'm done with this flourish stamp...... for a bit anyway! I have a tendenancy to get carried away with something if I like it too much!

This is a card I made just playing around last night. Funny thing is, with the three cards I've made using this flourish, not one of them comes close to resembling the card I had in my mind when I started making the first one, and it's not even the norm for me to have a card in my mind when I start creating! Maybe that's why, as I start working things just seem to take shape on their own?

Oh Lee, to answer your questions.....So far we have been fortunate enough to only have one little bunny hopping around the yard, but I have been on the lookout for signs of others...knock on wood...nothing yet! We don't have a veggie garden, so far he/she seems qiute content with the mass quantities of clover and dandelions our lawn provides!

On my coffee cup card, you had asked if I had used felt for the heart, yes it is felt, but it came already on the embellishment! It had a matching plate of cookies but I couldn't fit them all on the card! Thanks for the comments and coming to visit!

Just had a couple of regular pictures to show you. If you're a regular visitor here, you'll know that my hubby and I took a road trip to Ottawa the weekend before last. Well, while we were gone, for 4 days, we had someone take up residence in our back yard. Here is a picture of our new neighbor?

We finally got over to visit our friends and their new twins, they are so tiny, and so adorable, it just makes me want another one sooooo bad! Here is a picture of Abbey' holding one. I'm think at the time we had Samantha, believe it or not you can tell them apart this early in the game, but can't be sure without seeing the two of them side by side!

Well, I've been blogging now for just over a full month, and am so amazed at the inspriation available from the many different blogs I have found. I'm also amazed at the amount of visitors I have had to my blog. I thought I just be sitting here typing to myself and the few girls I know, who would visit to be nice, but I'm pretty sure they don't visit that often! LOL!

Although I simply love all the blogs I've been visiting, there are a couple that I find myself drawn to. These cards were inspired from two of my favorite blogs. The smile card was inspired from the works of Beatriz. Her blog is one of my all time favorites! It's called iralamija, and you can find the link in my blog list ( sorry I have no idea how to link it here). Her use of scallops, flowers, and bows, just continually keeps me in awe. As you can see, I've tried them all on this card, the scallops, woven ribbon, bow and flower, maybe it's too much for one card because I'm not happy with the way it turned out. There is just no way to capture her elegance! Keep up the great work Beatriz.

The enjoy card was inspired by Daniela's Blog, For the First Time (again you can find it in my blog list). About a week ago I posted a card made for my secret sister using one of the Rhonna Ferrar FLourishes. As I said in my post, it was inspired by a card I saw in the CARDS Mag. Well while visiting Daniela's Blog, I discovered it was her card, which only makes sense as I love her work! Anyway this card is another take using that same flourish. And even though I am happy with this card, it still can't compare to the work of this talented lady, I only hope time and practice can improve my techniques! Lovin' it Daniela

Guess I had a busy night last night. I haven't sat at my table in over a week, it felt good to be back! For those of you who are scrappers, I'm sure you know what I mean!

There is someone out there who I've been wanting to send a card to, but just haven't found the time. I won't say who, as I'm not sure if she visits here or not. This lady always manages to give me an unexpected smile, without ever knowing it, and this card is truly inspired by her! I hope she enjoys it!

Dad's Birthday!

Well, my Daddy turns 60 tomorrow and my Mom is throwing him a surprise party! How fun! I was living in another province when they had his 50th, so I wasn't able to be there, glad I can be this time!

I'm not very good with masculine cards, but I came up with this one for him, and am happy with the way it turned out. I don't usually decorate the inside of my cards, but had to because of the sentiment on this one, I like how it worked and may have to start decorating the insides of more!

Home again, Home again....

So we did it! 14 hrs. there, 16 hrs. back (mostly due to the weather), we arrived home shortly after 3 am Tuesday morning! Had a wonderful time, and the Sens won the night we were there! Ottawa was crazy, the game started at 8 pm and the line ups to get into all the bars were down the street by 4:30 in the afternoon. We did manage to get into the bar our friends were in, after a 10 min. wait and a $40 pay off to the doorman..... Thanks Ross, will reimburse you for that ASAP! It was well worth it! We got to spend time with friends and family we haven't seen in quite a while, and the atmosphere was incredible. As a non-hockey fan, I found myself totally pumped and watching the game intently!

So glad I went....and don't worry Lisa....I had enough drinks for everyone!!!! LOL!!!!!

Hopefully, after receiving Carla and Adelle's RAK's this past week, I'll get a couple of cards made this week!

Ottawa Bound!

Well I have no card to post for you today, as I've been too busy and excited to get anything done. Daren and I are leaving at 6 pm this evening and driving to Ottawa to be a part of the big NHL hoopla this weekend. It's about a 12- 14 hr. drive so we should be there by noon tomorrow, returning sometime on Monday?? We won't get to go to an actual game, but apparently there is a big party downtown and we'll definately be apart of that! Personally I'm not a hockey fan, but I'm going to Ottawa, where we are meeting some friends we haven't seen for a while so it will be nice. One friend is flying in from Alberta, and Daren's sister is flying in from London, (England) for the weekend. Nothing brings Canadians together like a good game of hockey....eh!

I guess the weekend scrap must have inspired me a little. Today, I finished a card that went out to my secret sister this morning (will post after she's received it), and came up with this card for another swap that I've joined up for. These past few cards are my first experiences using chipboard, so I'm a bit out of my "comfort zone" but having fun trying to come up with ways to use it! On this card I used one of the M's $1 stamps "laugh" for the sentiment, and to go along with that used the little frog stamp in the center of the flower, because I figured the receiver would get a little laugh from it!!??? Goodness knows, it seemed cute at the time! Enjoy!

Weekend Scrap Fun!

Got home this afternoon, from a weekend of scrapping with the girls! Had so much fun, it was great to just get away and have some time to do "my thing", or nothing, if I wanted to ...LOL!

Anyway here are two of the cards I made this weekend, one is for friends of ours who just had twin baby girls last week! How exciting for them, I said I envy and pity them both at the same time, as they already have a 5 yr. old at home!

The other card is for another weekly Simply Sentiments challenge, this one is using chipboard and arylic paint, all stamps are from Skipping Stones Design. I had to also paint the blue card stock to match! Hope you like it!

Card swap results!

I have bee so bad this week at updating my blog! I was so sick last week, then the weekend was a long one so we were away and Berg had an inservice day yesterday, so I really have had any time to get anything done.

This is a card I did for an unfinished card swap on Simply Sentiments. The object was to send one on those troublesome cards, that you just never got around to finish, to someone else to finish, and in turn you recieve an unfinished card from someone else to finish. This is the card I received and finished, unfortunately I never thought to take a before picture. The card was great when it was sent to me and really didn't need much to finish it off at all. I widened the polka-dot PP, added new lace, re-attached the flower, and added the sentiment (stamped on the reverside side of the double sided polka-dot PP). This was a great swap to participate in! Thanks for think of it Lee!

Sunday Fun!

Well, the sink box kept the kids busy all last night and most of this morning, which left me with some play time. This started off as just that.... playing, but I liked how it turned out, so I will use it for a card. I love the flourishes with the flowers and glitter glue, not sure about the ribbon and sentiment, but that's the best I could come up with to finish it off. Maybe if I keep looking at it for a while I'll think of something better! This play was totally inspired by Sherrie Siemens, I just love her use of swirls and flourishes. TFL!

It's the Weekend!

It's Saturday! Having a good day so far, we went to check out the new Dartmouth Crossing and it looks like it is going to be quite nice when it's all done, but just as cazy as Bayer's Lake. At Home Depot we finally got a new bathroom sink and faucet!!! Yeah....good bye cream faux marble, Hello white porcelin! I also HAD to stop in at the new Michael's to check out the Martha stuff. I must say it was all very nice, and over priced, but didn't really see anything I'd want. They had a half wall dedicated to K & Co., alot of which I would have loved to have. The new store is much better then the Bayer's Lake store, although I know they were changing the scarpbooking section at that one, so I haven't seen it finished yet. Anyway here are a couple of cards I've ben playing with, again with my flourishes. Flowers are from my SS Prize Pkg. Have a great weekend!

First Post!

Well, here's my first "official" post! Having a crappy day, I'm sick with a head cold ! Abbey's watching TV and playing dressup with some clothes that a friend gave her! So we're not having a very active day around here. I made this card last night after the kids went to bed and DH was engrossed in a hockey game. I wanted these flourishes so bad for x-mas and I've hardly used them, so thought it was time to break them out again.
